After you've written "Press Ctrl/Cmd + T to activate the Free Transform command.", you've also written to left click the canvas (Left-click on the canvas and choose Perspective from the contextual menu that appears.), that is wrong. We need to right-click the canvas to get the context menu, not left.

I still can't get it to work, if I pull down the left corner the right side doesn't change...if I push the right corner up then the top right comes down and leaves a gap in the sky! Also, a few links a dead. Pity because this looked like a good tutorial but I can't go any further with it.

Your tutorial is innacurate - you tell us to pull up on the right corner of the image using the perspective tool, but what YOU did was pull DOWN on the left corner. This got me stuck for awhile - you might want to fix that. Otherwise awesome tutorial.

Justine is right, I'm not sure what you did differently, perhaps used Distort? But using the perspective tool will also downsize the image from the top. It's not possible to do it the way you are suggesting and still keep left or right wall aligned at the top.
