Showcase: Modern Retro-Futuristic Digital Art
Retro-futuristic art, which refers to how artists in the past envision the future, bring to mind classic movies such as Mad Max, Star Trek, and The Terminator. When today’s designers and digital artists — armed with digital graphics software such as Photoshop and Illustrator — interpret retro-futuristic styles from the past, the results are quite enthralling. For your inspiration, feast your eyes on this collection of retro-futuristic digital art.

Great stuff! I really enjoy this style as well. Feels like some of them are straight off of a VHS movie cover from the 80’s!

Yes, exactly. In the 90s early 2000s, we would’ve considered those movie covers as tacky and cheesy. Do it today, and they’d be trendy.

Great collection, Jacob… I simply adore retro futuristic art… they are such an inspiration..
Also, I don’t think Labyrinth and Muse belong in this category.. Not that it is bad, but retro futurism takes a completely different meaning when you showcase works of noted retro futuristic artists such as Sakke Soini and Sorayama….
Just a thought:
Retro-Futurism is basically the depiction of the future in the past. It is also sometimes colloquially termed as “The future as seen from the past and the past as seen from the future.”
It is about how the people in the 60’s and 70’s imagined the machines of the future. It’s about space, technology and parallel realities :)
Fantastic collection btw :)

That’s why I called the showcase *modern* retro-futurism. It’s how modern designers interpret retro-futurism that were created in the past. I also explained it in the lead-in paragraph.
