Interesting idea. We’ve been discussing design contests here (just for fun, not for crowdsourcing purposes), and a PSD -> WP contest is a unique idea.

Then, what we could do is offer up the winning theme as a freebie for all Design Instruct readers to download and use for free. To make it democratic, we’d have the readers vote to pick the winner/s, kind of like American Idol. :D

Thanks for the idea, I’ll bring it up with the staff for discussion.

We’ve been discussing a follow-up to this popular web design tutorial to show you how to code it. I can’t give you a definitive answer as to whether or not we’ll be able to, and when we’ll be able to publish the follow-up.

The problem, really, is that we didn’t have an intention to provide a coding tutorial for this.

However, because of the popularity of our web design tutorials, in future web design tutorials, we are consciously making an effort to ensure that we provide you either with a working HTML template for you to download and study, or a follow-up tutorial on how to code it, similar to this 2-part tutorial series.

I’m with @Jacob on this. Unfortunately taking criticism (constructive or not) is one of the toughest parts about being a designer and its something we all have to learn to handle and make the most of.

That said, @Mahmoud only 15?! Wow, you incredible potential and is better than some senior deigners I know – obviously has a career in front of you. But do take on what @ChrisR has to say – it will only make you stronger ;-)

What a great tutorial! Without trying to sound patronising, you’re as old as my design career and have already managed to grasp type heirarchy, grid and information management as well as deliver something very attractive. Yes there are a few elements that could be improved upon, but let’s face it, we all have work in our past that could be improved. You have a bright future, Mahmoud. Keep up the good work!

I think the final product looks great and I don’t think this tutorial destroys any of the basic typography principles. It sounds like you’re just a little too high on your horse. Your navigation tools should be at the top of your browser. Please find a website that cares about this cool kid club of typography you seem to be in.
